Guidelines for Human Resources

Human Resources experts should be represented on a SPRINT project, in both the steering group and the BPR project team. This representation should help keep HR informed of any developments that will impact upon them.

Projects will require a significant HR component if it is anticipated that the re-engineering opportunities will involve organisational change.

Although it may not be feasible to have a HR professional involved throughout the project, it can be useful for there to be a point of contact within HR who is responsible for issues relating to BPR, and has some understanding of the process.

This point-of-contact may be called on to give advice on such issues as recruitment, staffing, contracts and re-grading.

It is important that the BPR project team is kept aware of any relevant HR issues and that they work closely with HR where appropriate.
